Introdução
Social inequality and food insecurity are global challenges, especially in Brazil, where many people struggle to access healthy food and development opportunities (Ogwu et al., 2024; Cherol et al., 2023). Social entrepreneurship, such as Gastromotiva, uses gastronomy to promote inclusion and combat hunger, empowering young people from vulnerable communities (Bonfim; Parisotto; Miranda, 2022). Its programs directly impact SDGs such as poverty eradication and combating hunger (OECD, 2019; UN, 2015).
Problema de Pesquisa e Objetivo
Social inequality and food insecurity are global challenges, especially in Brazil, where many face difficulties in accessing healthy food and development opportunities (Ogwu et al., 2024; Cherol et al., 2023). Social entrepreneurship, such as the Gastromotiva model, seeks to combine business practices with social solutions (Dentchev et al., 2016). This study aims to analyze Gastromotiva's business model, evaluating how its practices contribute to the SDGs, especially in social inclusion, job creation, and the promotion of sustainable practices in the gastronomic sector.
Fundamentação Teórica
Social entrepreneurship aims to solve social and environmental issues by creating business models that generate value (Hietschold et al., 2023; Weiss et al., 2023). Impact companies seek to solve social or environmental problems while maintaining financial viability and measuring their impact using specific indicators (Andersson et al., 2022; Fiandrino; Scarpa; Torelli, 2022). Social gastronomy uses cooking to promote inclusion, combat food insecurity, and generate income (Damasceno et al., 2023; Forman, 2021). Measuring impact is crucial to assessing its effectiveness (Beisland et al., 2021).
Metodologia
This study uses a qualitative, exploratory, and descriptive approach, focusing on a Gastromotiva case study. It aims to identify practices and impacts of its initiatives (Creswell; Creswell, 2017; Esteves et al., 2021) and detail its actions and results (Esteves et al., 2021). Netnography will analyze interactions on digital platforms (Kozinets, 2014; Cotta; Freitas Coelho; Sudré, 2024). Data will be collected from social media, forums, blogs, and organizational materials (Kozinets, 2014). Content analysis will interpret the data (Creswell; Creswell, 2017; Bardin, 2013).
Análise e Discussão dos Resultados
Gastromotiva uses gastronomy to promote social transformation, offering courses such as Refettorio Gastromotiva and Cozinhas Solidárias (Solidarity Kitchens) to vulnerable young people, developing skills and entrepreneurship (Bonfim et al., 2022). More than 10,000 young people have been trained. Its actions combat food insecurity (SDGs 2 and 8) and promote sustainability (Hariram et al., 2023; Edwards, 2021). Dependence on donations poses financial challenges (Fiandrino; Scarpa; Torelli, 2022) and contributes to the eradication of poverty (SDG 1) and education (SDG 4) (Lima et al., 2024).
Considerações Finais
This study highlights Gastromotiva as a successful example of social entrepreneurship in Brazil, using gastronomy to impact vulnerable youth through training, job opportunities, and social inclusion. It contributes to several Sustainable Development Goals, especially poverty eradication and hunger. However, financial sustainability and scalability remain challenges. The research underscores the importance of integrating business practices with social impact. Future studies could focus on strengthening financial sustainability and expanding Gastromotiva's impact.
