Reumo

Given the climate changes affecting the planet, this study aims to present how heat waves in India are discussed by the media, to observe whether they are being related to climate change. From this perspective, the theoretical framework of this study is based on the intersection of media studies, climate science and disaster management. This study employs content analysis to examine how heatwaves in India are discussed in the media, particularly in relation to climate change. 100 news items available online on Google News were studied. The results indicated that although climate change is often mentioned in the context of heat waves, the depth and context of these mentions vary significantly. Media reports tend to focus on immediate impacts such as health problems and infrastructure disruptions. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing a detailed analysis of how heatwaves in India are framed in the media, particularly in relation to climate change.
