Reumo

Sustainability has become a central theme on the international agenda. Companies are increasingly sensitive to issues ranging from green production and consumption to social justice. This scenario leads to a growing awareness of the need to integrate policies for sustainable development in the educational institutions responsible for training the professional working in such companies. Initiatives supported by global agendas like the SDGs and Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), figure to be extremely necessary in order to align policies with students' curriculum.
The general objective is to identify the relationship of SDGs with bibliographic production and extension activities in the context of the Faculty of Economics, Administration and Accounting of Ribeirão Preto - FEA-RP / USP. To this end, the specific agenda consisted of the following secondary objectives: I. To identify the relationship between publications in scientific journals and participation in events with SDGs; II. To identify the relation of the university extension actions promoted by the students of the student entities with the SDGs.
Sustainable companies need leaders aligned with this purpose and this could be achieved through responsible management education; nevertheless, business schools are in a struggle: in a way they’re somehow responsible for environmental and social issues, in the other hand are vectors to turn the tide towards sustainability. Studies report many barriers to communicating sustainability and existence of decoupling. Frameworks supported by global agendas like the PRME and the SDGs are useful platforms to overcome barriers, increase awareness and walk the talk among the business schools stakeholders
The methodology used was based on two fronts, in the first one we used the representation of the Social Network Analysis (Wasserman and Faust, 1994) to elaborate a graph of the bibliographic production of the researchers, in the second front we qualitatively analyze the main actions developed by the university students through their academic organizations. In both approaches the objective was to identify the existing bonds between actions and SDGs in order to present a visual scenario of the congruence of the actions of the stakeholders towards the SDGs.
The social network representations of the researchers academic activity shows clusters strongly connecting the SDGs regarding “Peace, justice and strong institutions (SDG 16)” and the “Good Health and well-being (SDG 3)”, as well as the ones connecting the “Responsible consumption and production” (SDG 12), with several other SDGs. The analysis of the students’ extension activities indicates strong bonds with the social aspects of sustainable development.
Business schools play a key role in the development of the skills and mentality of tomorrow's managers, thus acting as catalysts of sustainable development in the companies. The clear representation through graphs of academic production and university extension activities allows the stakeholders to clearly understand their role within the academic community, as well as their positioning in the global SDG agenda.
