Resumo

Este trabalho faz uma reflexão sobre o mercado de e-resíduos, apresentando um cenário de oportunidades econômicas e sustentáveis, buscando apresentar o conceito de Economia Circular (EC) como fator-chave mitigador do crescimento do e-resíduo não coletado/tratado. Ao mesmo tempo, sob a lente dos drivers de mudança, são discutidos argumentos de antecipação, ou não, ao ponto de impaciência da sociedade e às inevitáveis imposições regulatórias da EC. As reflexões mostram que o ponto de impaciência da sociedade frente ao crescimento exponencial do e-resíduo é iminente. Simultaneamente, tende a trazer consigo as imposições regulatórias resultantes das exigências da sociedade, que influencia mudanças estruturais nas finanças corporativas, onde empresas buscam adequação ao Multiple Bottom Line. As motivações para que a busca da alternativa ao problema causado pelo e-resíduo não coletado/tratado passe pela EC, são fundamentadas na evidência que esta representa nas pesquisas internacionais sobre o tema; na convergência das imposições regulatórias vigentes aos modelos de negócios circulares e cadeias de suprimentos cíclicas; e no potencial econômico do mercado de e-resíduo e seu alinhamento com as tendências regulatórias.

This paper reflects on the e-waste market, presenting a scenario of economic and sustainable opportunities, seeking to present the concept of Circular Economy (EC) as a key mitigating factor in the growth of not collected/treated e-waste. At the same time, under the lens of the drivers of change, arguments of anticipation or not are discussed, to the society’s impatience point and the inevitable regulatory impositions of the EC. The reflections show that the society’s impatience point in face of the exponential growth of e-waste is imminent. At the same time, it tends to bring with it the regulatory impositions resulting from the demands of society, which influences structural changes in corporate finance, where companies seek to adapt to the Multiple Bottom Line. The motivations for the search for an alternative to the problem caused by the not collected/treated e-waste to goes by EC are based on the evidence it represents in international research on the subject; the convergence of regulatory requirements in force with circular business models and cyclical supply chains; and the economic potential of the e-waste market and its alignment with regulatory trends.
